(CP) -- The Sun Life Skate Canada International will return to Saint John in 1999, the second time in five years the city will host the premier figure skating event.The competition, one of six qualifying events for the International Skating Union's Grand Prix Series, was held in Saint John in 1995. "This city has a long tradition of supporting figure skating events," Betty Bouma, president of the Canadian Figure Skating Association, said Monday. "We have a tremendous group of volunteers who help us to stage the event, and a terrific facility in Harbour Station." The 1999 Skate Canada will take place Nov. 4-7. CTV and CTV SportsNet will televise approximately 11 hours of coverage. The 1998 event was held in Kamloops, B.C. |
