Sable's doing fine

Sable shows off the WWF Women's title. -- Craig Robertson, Toronto Sun

By ROB GRANATSTEIN -- Toronto Sun

Don't fret wrestling fans -- sexy Sable's all right.

The WWF women's champion unexpectedly missed Monday night's electric Raw is War card at the SkyDome, leaving her legion of fans puzzled and upset.

But WWF Canada president Carl DeMarco wanted to put all the wrasslin' fans at ease yesterday, and apologize on her behalf. Sable had to return home to take care of some urgent personal matters, but she's fine, DeMarco said.

"She felt really bad that she had to miss the event, but it was at her request," DeMarco said.

Sable made the extra effort to come to Toronto on Monday afternoon for a taping of the Gallagher show, but announced at that time she wasn't sticking around for her expected appearance at mat mania in front of 43,000 frenzied fans.

"She knew going on Gallagher meant a lot to the fans and she really wanted to do that," DeMarco said. "But she needed to go home."
