Hitman WCW world champ

Bret Hart celebrates his victory over Sting in the semi-finals of the WCW World title tournament. -- Veronica Henri, Toronto Sun
Bret 'The Hitman' Hart is a world champion once again.

Sunday night at Toronto's Air Canada Centre, he defeated Edmonton's Chris Benoit in the main event of the World Championship Wrestling heavyweight title tournament at the Mayhem pay-per-view.

Hart managed to get Benoit into his Sharpshooter finishing hold to grab the win. He celebrated the win in-ring afterwards with a Canadian flag and his family, flow in special for the event.

Benoit and Hart fought in a memorable match back at the beginning of October at the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, site of his brother Owen's fatal fall from the rafters. Hart won that match too.

The re-match in Toronto was equally moving, with the fans giving both wrestlers their applause and signs in the crowd remembering Owen Hart. Bad guys Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Dean Malenko all tried to disrupt the championship match at one time or another, and good guy Goldberg made the save.
