Bulldog pleads not guilty
CALGARY (CP) -- Less than a month after having charges of uttering threats dropped in return for good behaviour, wrestler Davey Boy Smith pleaded not guilty Friday to threatening another member of Calgary's Hart wrestling family.
"He's vehement about his not guilty plea," said lawyer Alain Hepner, appearing on behalf of the wrestler known as the British Bulldog to millions of World Wrestling Federation fans.
The latest charge stems from an alleged incident Dec. 10 involving Bruce Hart -- the estranged husband of Smith's new girlfriend, Andrea Hart.
On Dec. 7, the Crown agreed to drop four charges against Smith involving allegations of death threats against his estranged wife, Diana Hart-Smith and her sister, Elizabeth Niedhart.
Under terms of a peace bond, Smith agreed to stay away from several members of the Hart family. Bruce Hart was not among those mentioned on the peace bond.
Smith is to be back in court in late January, when a date will be set for trial.
