Three-time Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) heavyweight champion
Sandman, considered professional wrestling's ultimate anti-hero, returns to
the ECW with an appearance on ECW On TNN, this Friday.
Sandman, a 10-year pro who lives in Philadelphia, climbs back into the ECW
ring following a stint with the WCW to become the fourth WCW wrestler to
join the ECW fold in recent months.
As ECW's Hardcore Icon, Sandman lets it all hang out in the ring, preferring
to rely on primal brawling instincts instead of wrestling technique.
"I saw the future and it was spelled ECW," said Sandman of his return to the
organization he helped place on the wrestling map. "ECW is where I can
realize my full potential as the nastiest wrestler in the universe. I'm
looking forward to demonstrating all my nasty moves to the fans who'll be
watching on TNN."
In addition to being a former ECW heavyweight championship belt, Sandman and
partner 2 Cold Scorpio also were ECW World Tag Team champs. Sandman's
ECW career highlights are his wars with Tommy Dreamer, Raven and Sabu, and a
December 1995 victory over Stone Cold Steve Austin.
