Puxel joins South African team
JOHANNESBURG (AP) -- Frenchman Christian Puxel has joined the South African World Cup coaching staff as a specialist working with the goalkeepers.Puxel, a physical education teacher in Paris, has worked with the national teams in Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast in recent years.
New South African coach Phillipe Troussier, also a Frenchman, was the Burkina Faso coach during this year's African Nations Cup tournament.
Troussier took over as South African coach last month. He angered the local media by failing to hold news conferences after early training sessions, but he said Tuesday people must be patient with him.
"I need to get involved and work with the players and may not always have time for the media and the fans," he said. "People have to accept that."
