World Cup in doubt for Crespo
LECCE, Italy (AP) -- Hernan Crespo, the Argentine striker, declared his Serie A season finished Sunday after he hurt his left thigh during a club match, an injury that also sheds doubt on his status for the World Cup.The 22-year-old left AC Parma's 2-0 win at Lecce 13 minutes into the second half, favoring his left leg.
"Unfortunately, my season ended today," Crespo said. "I hurt myself in the same place I had a strain two months ago. I just hope I can heal in time for the World Cup."
Crespo, who leads Parma with 12 goals, was expected to be a key element in attack for Argentina at France '98.
