*Brewers acquire OF Alex Ochoa from Twins*
    ------------------------------------------

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers added a
backup outfielder today, acquiring Alex Ochoa from the Minnesota
Twins for a non-roster player to be named.

The 26-year-old Ochoa was a part-time player in Minnesota,
hitting .257 with two homers and 25 RBI in 94 games. In
Milwaukee, he is expected to be used as a backup behind Geoff
Jenkins, Marquis Grissom and Jeromy Burnitz.

"With Alex coming off the bench, we'll become more athletic,"
said Brewers vice president of baseball operations Sal Bando.
"He also gives us more versatility as he played mostly right
field for the Twins, but can also play center in an emergency."

Ochoa began his career in the Baltimore organization before
being traded to the New York Mets in 1995. He made his
major-league debut with the Mets that season. His first full
year in the majors was 1997, when he hit .273 and drove in 55
runs. Ochoa was traded to Minnesota last December for
    outfielder Rich Becker.
