*Mets 3B coach Cookie Rojas suspended for five games*
    -----------------------------------------------------

ATLANTA (Ticker) --- New York Mets batters will not be getting
signs from third base coach Cookie Rojas in the National League
    Championship Series.

The NL today suspended Rojas for five games for pushing umpire
Charlie Williams in the eighth inning of Saturday's 4-3 Division
Series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The suspension begins Tuesday in the opener of the best-of-seven
series against the Atlanta Braves. Rojas, who also was fined an
undisclosed amount, could return for Game Six on October 19 in
    Atlanta.

Rojas became incensed with a controversial call by Williams, who
ruled a potential go-ahead double by Darryl Hamilton just foul
down the left-field line. After he was ejected, Rojas gave
Williams a two-handed push and needed to be restrained by
    several Mets players and coaches.

Rojas said that he pushed Williams only after the umpire cursed
at him during the heated altercation. Video Replays showed
    Williams made the right call.

Manager Bobby Valentine replaced Rojas on Saturday but bench and
catching coach Bruce Benedict will serve as third base coach in
    the NLCS.

The 60-year-old Rojas is in his third season with the Mets after
four years with the Florida Marlins. He played 15 seasons in the
major leagues and appeared in four All-Star games.
