*Warriors sign veteran G Tim Legler*
    ------------------------------------

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Veteran reserve guard Tim
Legler, who was waived last week by the Orlando Magic, signed a
one-year contract today with the Golden State Warriors.

Terms were not disclosed, but Legler must receive a minimum of
    $1 million as a 10-year veteran.

Legler, 32, was acquired by the Magic in an offseason trade that
sent center Isaac Austin to the Washington Wizards. He was
among a handful of veterans cut by the Magic, who had more than
the maximum 20 training camp invitees under contract.

This will be Legler's second stint with the Warriors. He played
24 games for them during the 1994-95 season. He spent the last
four seasons with Washington and averaged a career-high 9.4
points per game in the 1995-96 campaign.

Legler began his NBA career with Phoenix in 1989 and also has
played for Denver, Utah and Dallas. He is one of the better
outside shooters in the league with a career 3-point mark of
43.5 percent (253-of-582). He has averaged 7.3 points in 287
    games.

"We're extremely happy to bring Tim Legler back to the Warriors
for a second time," general manager Garry St. Jean said.
"Outside shooting was an area we wanted to address this
offseason and we think that by adding Tim, who is one of the
best 3-point shooters in the league, we have filled a need on
    our basketball team."

The Warriors also re-signed frontcourt players Erick Dampier and
    Terry Cummings.
