  • NCAA WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT RECAP
    (WASHINGTON-OKLAHOMA)

    Sunday, March 25, 3:50 AM
    (6) WASHINGTON 84 , (2) OKLAHOMA 67
    -----------------------------------

SPOKANE, Washington (Ticker) -- Freshman Andrea Lalum had 18
points, eight rebounds and three blocks as Washington rolled
into the NCAA Tournament West Region final with an 84-67 victory
    over second seed Oklahoma.

Lalum made 6-of-10 shots from the field, including 3-of-4
3-pointers to lead a potent Huskies' attack that was lethal in
    the second half.

Washington (22-9) shot 48 percent (13-of-27) in the second half
while draining 5-of-11 shots from behind the arc and 16-of-19
    from the line.

Loree Payne and Megan Franza each scored 17 points and freshman
Giuliana Mendiola added 15 for the Huskies. The trio combined
to make 14-of-28 shots from the field and grab 14 rebounds.

LeAnn Sheets overcame 3-of-10 shooting to collect nine points
and 10 rebounds for Washington, which recieved only eight points
    from its bench.

Oklahoma's offense sputtered throughout, and it shot just 34
percent (25-of-72). Trailing by five at halftime, the Sooners
(28-6) tried to shoot their way into the lead, but made just
    1-of-13 3-pointers in the final 20 minutes.

Caton Hill had 23 points and 12 rebounds, but had very little
help from Oklahoma's usually solid backcourt.

Stacey Dales scored 13 points, but Sunny Hardeman and LaNeisha
Caufield combined for only 12 points.

Hardeman made just 2-of-11 shots -- both 3-pointers -- while
Caufield, who averages nearly 17 points per game, missed all 11
of her shots from the floor, scoring all six points from the
line. She dished out seven assists, but committed five of the
    Sooners' 14 turnovers.
