*Jeep to sponsor consecutive bowl games in Hawaii Christmas Day*

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Bowl week just grew by another game today when the Jeep Division
of the Chrysler Corporation teamed up with the Bowl Games of
Hawaii to present the inaugural Jeep Oahu Bowl in Honolulu.

The game will be played Christmas night after the completion of
the Aloha Bowl, which also is sponsored by Jeep. Both games
will be played at Aloha Stadium and will feature two schools
from the Pac-10 Conference, one from the Western Athletic
    Conference and one at-large school.

In the Aloha Bowl, played Christmas Day, the fourth-place team
from the Pac-10 will play an at-large team. The Oahu Bowl will
pit the fifth-place team from the Pac-10 against the runner-up
from the WAC, which could have a representative in the Bowl
Championship Series if the school is ranked in the top five in
both the ESPN/USA Today and Associated Press polls.

"It will be a pleasure to welcome the first college football
doubleheader in history to Hawaii on Christmas Day," said Hawaii
governor Benjamin Cayetano. "The Jeep Aloha Bowl is already a
college football tradition, and I'm certain the new Jeep Oahu
Bowl will begin a tradition of its own. This is great news for
    our state.

The Aloha Bowl still will be televised by ABC, while the Oahu
Bowl will be broadcast by ESPN. The stadium will feature Oahu
signage, while one end zone will read "Aloha" and the other
    "Oahu."
