    (GEORGIA TECH-VIRGINIA)

    Saturday, November 10, 7:42 AM
No.17 Georgia Tech (6-2) at Virginia (3-6) 3:30 pm EST
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- Georgia Tech is playing
its best football of the season. Virginia seemingly wants its
    season to end.

The 17th-ranked Yellow Jackets seek their fourth win in five
games when they visit Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia,
which tries to avoid its first six-game losing streak in 20
    years.

Georgia Tech (6-2, 3-2 ACC), which still has important games
with Georgia and Florida State left on its schedule, posted an
impressive 28-21 win over North Carolina last Thursday.

"We've still got a lot of work to get done, but really for the
first time this year, I saw all three areas -- offense, defense
and special teams -- play up to their potential," coach George
    O'Leary said.

George Godsey has completed 64 percent of his passes and directs
an offense that averages 33.9 points.

Virginia (3-6, 2-6) appeared on the way to a respectable after a
September win at Clemson, but the Cavaliers have lost all five
games since and try to avoid their longest losing streak since a
    seven-game slide in 1981.

Last week's 34-30 setback to Wake Forest assured the Cavaliers
of a losing season under first-year coach Al Groh.

Groh used both Matt Schaub and Bryson Spinner at quarterback
last week and the duo combined to complete 27-of-45 passes for
    294 yards.

Georgia Tech leads the all-time series, 12-10-1, including a
35-0 win last season in Atlanta in which Godsey threw for 323
yards and two scores. The Yellow Jackets have lost four straight
in Charlottesville since defeating the then-top-ranked
    Cavaliers, 41-38, in 1990.
