    (DALLAS-GREEN BAY)

    Sunday, November 23, 11:51 AM
Dallas (6-5) at Green Bay (8-3) 1:00 pm EST

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
After seven trips to Dallas over the last four years resulted in
losses, the Packers finally get a crack at the Cowboys in
    Lambeau Field today.

Green Bay thought it had a playoff date with Dallas last year in
the NFC Championship game at Lambeau, but the Cowboys lost at
Carolina in the divisional playoff and ruined the Packers'
    chance for revenge.

Included in the eight losses at Dallas is three playoff defeats.
The Cowboys eliminated Green Bay from the postseason in blowout
fashion in 1993 (36-14) and 1994 (35-9). But the most painful
defeat for the Packers was a 38-27 loss at Texas Stadium in 1995
in the NFC Championship game. The Packers had a 27-24 lead in
the fourth quarter, before Emmitt Smith scored on runs of five
and 16 yards to give Dallas the victory en route to their third
Super Bowl title in four years.

Even in Green Bay's Super Bowl season last year, the Packers
were unable to shake the Cowboys jinx, suffering a 21-6 loss at
Dallas last November. Chris Boniol set a club record with seven
field goals and the last one in the closing seconds angered many
Packers, who accused Dallas coach Barry Switzer of rubbing their
    noses in the loss.

But winning at Lambeau, where the Packers have won a
franchise-record 21 straight, will be a tall order for the
Cowboys. Along with the revenge factor against Dallas, Green
Bay is coming off a stunning 41-38 loss to previously winless
    Indianapolis.

Brett Favre passed for 363 yards and three touchdowns, including
a pair to Antonio Freeman, and Dorsey Levens rushed for 103
yards, caught four passes for 92 yards and scored three
touchdowns. But the Packer defense was shredded by Paul Justin,
who threw for 340 yards, and yielded 147 yards on the ground.

In four regular-season games against the Cowboys, Favre has
thrown six touchdowns and just one interception. He needs 224
passing yards to become only the fourth player all-time with six
    straight 3,000-yard seasons.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Packers, who
play at Minnesota in an NFC Central showdown the following
Monday. Green Bay, Minnesota and Tampa Bay are locked in a
three-way tie for first-place in the NFC Central.

The Cowboys scored 11 points in the final two minutes to beat
the Washington Redskins, 17-14, in a key NFC East game. The win
moved Dallas into a second-place tie with Washington in the NFC
East, one game behind the New York Giants.

Troy Aikman hit Michael Irvin with a six-yard touchdown pass to
cap a 97-yard drive and then connected with Smith on the
two-point conversion with 1:55 left to tie the game at 14-14.

The Cowboys then reclaimed possession at their 47 after a poor
punt by Matt Turk. Aikman moved the Cowboys 28 yards and Richie
Cunningham kicked a 42-yard field goal with four seconds left to
    give Dallas the win.

Dallas, which has not scored points for most of the season, will
most likely struggle against a Packers defense that has held
three of its last four opponents to 10 points or less. The
Packers have totaled 12 sacks and seven interceptions in the
    last four games.

The Cowboys have won eight straight overall from the Packers. In
the eight, Aikman has completed 72.5 percent of his passes
(187-of-258) for 2,145 yards and 11 touchdowns with seven
    interceptions.

Dallas' Emmitt Smith needs one rushing touchdown to break a tie
with Walter Payton (110) for second all-time.

Packers defensive tackle Gilbert Brown (ankle) and wide receiver
Robert Brooks (rib) are listed as questionable, but expected to
play today. Dallas right tackle Erik Williams is also
questionable (ankle) and expected to play.
