He split last year with Florida and Vancouver, totaling just six goals and 22 assists in 69 games. "I'm very fortunate to have made a living playing the game I love," he said. He had a career-high 82 points in 1990-91, when Minnesota lost to Pittsburgh in the Stanley Cup Finals. Gagner appeared in 609 games for the Minnesota-Dallas franchise, registering 247 goals and 287 assists. He ranks 10th on the franchise's all-time list in games played, sixth in goals, eighth in assists and sixth in points and is the only player in franchise history to record six straight 30-goal seasons (1988-94). A first round pick by the New York Rangers in 1983, Gagner was traded to Minnesota on October 8, 1987 with Jay Caufield for Jari Gronstrand and Paul Boutilier. Following the 1992-93 campaign, Gagner played for Team Canada at the world championship tournament in Germany. On January 29, 1996, he was traded to Toronto for Benoit Hogue and Randy Wood. Gagner scored 60 points while playing in all 82 games for Calgary in 1996-97 but his production dropped dramatically in his last two seasons. st 09-29-99 19:17 et |
