    *Senators sign veteran D Ledyard*
    ---------------------------------

KANATA, Ontario (Ticker) -- Well-traveled defenseman Grant
Ledyard has found yet another home.

The Ottawa Senators took signed the 37-year-old Ledyard, an
unrestricted free agent, to a multi-year contract. Terms of the
    deal were not disclosed.

The 15-year veteran joins his eighth team after electeding not
to re-sign with the Boston Bruins. Ledyard had four goals
and eight assists in 47 games for the Bruins last season.

The Winnipeg native has recorded 351 points and 728 penalty
minutes in 913 career games while adding 17 points in 68 playoff
contests. He also has played for the New York Rangers, Los
Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars
    and Vancouver Canucks.

Ledyard had his best season with the Dallas Stars in 1993-94,
registering a career-high 46 points while playing in all 84
    games.

After four years in Dallas, he signed with the Vancouver Canucks
for the 1997-98 season. On March 3, 1998, he was traded to the
Bruins for an eighth-round draft pick.

Since Ledyard was signed after the NHL's waiver draft on
September 27, the Senators were required by league rules to
place him or another player from their protected list on
waivers. As a result, Ledyard was placed on waivers today at 12
p.m. EST and teams have 48 hours to put in a claim.
