    BRYAN HERTA

     Racing

Bryan Herta joined Hollywood/Mo Nunn racing in June to substitute for the injured Tony Kanaan.

Earlier this season, Herta piloted the a Walker Racing car to a fifth-place finish at Long Beach. He also competed in the Walker entry at Rio de Janeiro.

From 1996-1999, Herta piloted a Team Rahal car to victory and emerged victorious at the Grand Prix of Monterey.

Herta's breakthrough 1998 season included his inaugural victory (Monterey), three pole positions and three podium finishes. His eighth-place finish in the series standings equaled his career-best showing.

In 1997, Herta won two poles, and set two track records. He led in four of the season's final five races.

In 1996, Herta earned the most improved driver honours with two front-row starts and a pair of podium finishes. He finished the season eighth in the championship standings after closing the season with seven consecutive top-six finishes.

In 1995, Herta set a track record in qualifying at Phoenix while driving for Chip Ganassi Racing.

At the Molson Indy Toronto in 1994, Herta was seriously injured in a practice session and missed the remainder of the season.

However, successful surgeries and rehabilitation allowed Herta to resume racing the following year.

Herta's CART career began with A.J. Foyt Enterprises in 1994 at Indianapolis where he finished ninth. He was hired to compete in the rest of the schedule before his season was cut short at Toronto

Herta captured the Indy Lights title in 1993. He claimed seven victories and a series-record eight pole positions.

Herta won the Barber-Saab Pro Series championship in 1991 with four wins and two poles and took 14 victories in 18 events on his way to the 1989 Skip Barber Formula Ford series title.
