Celebrities who bowed out in ‘07

Q: Is there a resource that keeps track of the burial sites of dead celebrities? We'd like to visit Los Angeles and would particularly like to drop by Jack Lemmon's grave.

A: Jack Lemmon is buried at the Chapel Garden Estate in Westwood Memorial Park (1218 Glendon Ave.), one of the biggest celebrity cemeteries in the world.

The list of famous plots reads like a "Who's Who of Hollywood" and includes Marilyn Monroe, Truman Capote, Fanny Brice, Rodney Dangerfield and Eva Gabor.

In nearby Glendale, Calif., Forest Lawn Cemetery (1712 South Glendale Ave.) is another burial ground noted for its famous residents, including Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, and Jean Harlow.

The 121 hectares of rolling hills and mature trees, is dotted with grandiose sculptures, quaint chapels, grand tombs and shrines. More than a million people visit yearly.

In addition to funerals, Forest Lawn is also known for its celebrity marriages.

Be sure to pick up a map of the grounds at the information kiosk at the entrance. You won't find celebrity names on it but you will find street names to help you get around.
