Q. What city is building the most hotels in Europe? Is there a way to find out? — C. Kwan, Scarborough A. TopHotelProjects, a provider of global hotel data, recently released a new list that rates London as Europe’s hotel construction capital. The company reports there are 41 hotels under development that, when complete, will add an estimated 8,100 rooms to London’s already huge inventory of rooms. One example is Shangri-la Hotel London, scheduled to open this year on the upper floors of the Shard Tower, one of Europe’s tallest skyscrapers. Other cities encountering major hotel developments are Berlin with 24, Hamburg with 23, and Paris with 18.
