Starting on Wednesday, Telemark skiers will be able to pre-order bindings they can step into just like alpine bindings when French manufacturer The M Equipment releases its eagerly anticipated Meidjo.
They're equipped with the first quick release safety latch for Telemark skis that allows them to detach upon impact, reducing the possibility of injury.
If the ski seems to have vanished into the powder after such an event, the bindings come with the option of a built-in transceiver beacon making it possible to find them again easily.
Claiming to be the lightest Telemark bindings of available choice, they weigh just 800g per pair and boast two additional springs to fine-tune the tension.
When locked in the step-in bindings, the shoe is just 20mm above the ski, lowering the center of gravity and increasing stability when the skier is called into action.
The bindings promise total freedom of motion in the heel, but the six attachment points at the toe offer increased worry-free anchorage.
