Q: What is the best way to see the city of Puebla in Mexico. We will be staying on our own in Mexico City and not travelling with a group.

-- D. Morris, Toronto

A: There are public buses from Mexico City to Puebla that are generally quite nice. The one-way trip lasts about two hours. For tickets and schedules, see estrellaroja.com.mx and click on English. Once you arrive at the Puebla bus station, assuming you are staying overnight, cabs are available to take you to your hotel. A good way to tour Puebla is on a city sightseeing bus tour. Tickets can be purchased at the Puebla visitor information centre at the Zocalo (Calle 16 de septiembre in the area's historic centre). Turibus operates red double decker buses with 12 points of interest along the route. The trip lasts about 1.5 hours. See turibus.com.mx/puebla.html.

Q: Is there a quick way for Canadians to get current information on travel in the Philippines?

-- W. Link, Toronto

A: The federal government recently updated its website for Canadian travellers. Go to travel.gc.ca and click on Philippines for more details. The Canadian Embassy in the Philippines is now on Twitter. For up-to-the-minute travel advisories and other relevant information, follow them on Twitter at @CanEmbPP, and do searches using the Twitter hashtag #canphil.
