A 50-acre development in Abbottabad, Pakistan -- best known as the place where U.S. Navy SEALS shot and killed terrorist Osama bin Laden -- is poised to become a $30-million amusement park.

But the government of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a longtime popular tourist destination in Pakistan, says it has nothing to do with bin Laden.

In fact, the park will extend far behind the compound where the al-Qaida leader hid until he was found and killed on May 2, 2011.

"The amusement city will be built on 50 acres in the first phase but later will be extended to 500 acres," Syed Aqil Shah, the provincial minister for tourism and sports, told the Telegraph. "It will have a heritage park, wildlife zoo, food street, adventure and paragliding clubs, waterfalls and jogging tracks."

Construction will begin in February or March and will take about eight months to complete, he said.

The province has allocated three billion rupees, or $30.6 million, for the project.
