According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Thursday, 2012 was the safest year in history for air safety. On average, there was 1 accident per every 5 million flights.
Last year, 3 billion people on 37.5 million flights throughout the world arrived at their destinations safe and sound.
Seventy-five incidents were recorded in 2012, compared to 92 in 2011, and there were 15 deaths. A year earlier, 22 passengers died in plane crashes. At the time, on average, 1 accident was recorded per 2.7 million flights.
