British Airways is flying high in the UK after being voted the nation's favorite brand.
This year's Consumer Superbrands survey, conducted every February, has revealed that the 95-year-old airline has climbed into first position, from second place in the 2013 survey. The results are perhaps unsurprising given the company's pioneering spirit, which has, over the years, seen it launch the first commercial scheduled service (in 1919), the first commercial jet and supersonic services and the first fully flat business class beds. Last year it became the first commercial airline in Europe to operate both the A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
BA was closely followed in the league tables by luxury watch company Rolex, while American giant Coca-Cola came in at third place. Fourth and fifth place on the list were claimed by the BBC and the food company Heinz, famous for producing British pantry staples such as baked beans and tomato ketchup.
The annual Consumer Superbrands survey is compiled independently from a shortlist of over 1,500 brands, with an expert council and over 3,000 UK participants each voting.
