Q: I will be flying to Hong Kong and have a long lay-over. Sleeping in airports isn't fun, and I am wondering if there is a way find out about good places to take a nap.

A: The Guide to Sleeping in Airports might help you find a quiet spot to nap, or at least steer you away from the heavily trafficked parts of the airport. The site has been giving informal reviews based on first-hand accounts by travellers since 1996. Often humorous, tips include avoiding seats near restrooms.

If your budget allows, there are airport hotels that offer day rates or other conveniences for short term visitors.

In Hong Kong, Sky City Marriott and Novotel Citygate have free regularly scheduled shuttles between the hotel and the airport.

If you decide to stay at the airport, showers are available around the clock at Terminal 1. For airport maps and other information, see hongkongairport.com.
