"Now the worst trades I can think of were sending 1-Gomez, 2-Leclair and I forget that all star defenceman to Filly for Mark Rechi, 3-Chelios for Savard, 40fiving away Tony Esposito to Chicago for zilch, 5-Kabersmelly, 6-Langway to Wash for Green and Ryan what's his name."
John LeClair and Éric Desjardins for Mark Recchi.
Rod Langway for Rich Green and Ryan Walters
"Best trade ever was Sinden grabbing Espo from Chicago with Ken what's his name and then dumping them on the Rangers for Park and Rattelle"
Phil Esposito and Ken Hodge. Problem is: Harry Sinden was still the coach then,...Was he g-m and the coach also?
MTL had too many goalies, and they decided to get rid of Tony Esposito. I don't even think that he even played one game for the Habs. He did great with Chicago, but MTL beat them with Ken Dryden in 1973 for the Stanley Cup in 6 games. They also swept them in the first round in 1976. So, maybe Dryden was the best bet after all... Even if he wasn't in the Habs' views yet during the late '60s.

No need for violence. Just counter punch with the Gomez trade. It's like kryptonite for Hab fans.

sorry hammer.....that one still smarts eh.
the gomer deal is embaressing and yes "crippling for the habs" as cgy so accurately called it right after the deal was done.
however.... it differs in magnitude in one way.....the rangers did not get A PLAYER that turned out into a superstar like some of these other deals where teams traded away the likes of cam neely, brett hull, doug gilmour, patick roy, chris chelios, phil esposito, .......... the rangers got out of a rediculous contract. huge win for them, yes. just not as big a pay off in robbing the other team and their fans of a franchise player. watching the rangers increased cap space and the decent young dman thyey got is just not the same as watching cam neely dominate the league, or espo light up the lamp 76 times or roy hoisting two more cups as mvp....or gilmour bring back the dead in toronto.

Bite your tongue about Pierre McGuire!!!...This is the biggest horse's petoot that parades on TV as a hockey expert. Canadian broadcasters do not want him anymore, so now, he's spreading his bull$hit on NBC.

Been watching the french commentators(RDS) and, by what I understand, Pierre is a friend of the Molson's. Don't know how good and what they actually think of him but this scares me.
Another curious instance is when I saw him doing an interview(recently) I picked up on something which is, at the end of the session the other guy, said "Ole Ole" and Pierre just smiled. Maybe Habsr1 knows something???????

Not a chance that Mcquire comes here, he's a washed-up anglo tv commentator, even that job is too good for him. Savard is also a friend on Molson, I don't expect him to be GM.
Rumour here is that Gill is going to Pittsburgh. Anybody hear anything about that??

Hey, it could be worse:
“ If Gauthier was gassed, who would replace him? That’s the question TSN’s Darren Dreger is asking as the Habs face the prospect of no playoffs for the first time in five years”
“Other names Dreger included in the mix include former Toronto GM John Ferguson Jr.”, current NBC NHL analyst Pierre McGuire and Marc Bergevin, Chicago’s 46-year-old assistant GM that retired from playing just prior to the lockout,”
Heh, Heh.

How many did Neely bag for the Bruins?
Still makes me sick whenever that trade gets mentioned.
However I seriously doubt Neely would have became the player he was had he stayed in Vancouver.

Perhaps.
He was an average player in the three years he played in Vancouver...and an above average fighter....with a horrible defensive game.
I think he was around -30 each year.
He may have felt some pressure playing in front of his hometown fans.
We will never know if the Canucks gave up on him too soon, but he began to flourish immediately ater being traded to Boston and began averaging about 1/2 a goal a game after that.
Coincidence?..I doubt it.
If Tiger actually said that good on him...proves that even idiots are right once in a while.

I think in his early years Neely was more of a goon than a player. He started scoring when he was told to park himself in front of the net. That's how Probert became a scorer for a couple of years. I think the same thing happened with Secord. They all made their living on their toughness and their ability to become an immovable force when in front of the net.
None of them was a play maker, fast skater or extremely creative. But they could fight and score. A valuable combination.

lol..... habs down 2-0 to canes come back and take 3-2 lead then get a powerplay. out comes kabby....immediately gives the puck away on a soft play then gets walked around like a pylon ...3-3 that took about 10 second on the pp.
added note.....since tha habs picked up kabby "to help on the pp" they have the worst pp on the nhl from that day forward. nice trade goats.
in the 5-0 win over the leafs kabby and gomer were a plus minus of 0.
tonight aginst the canes gomer has missed a wide open net and given the puck away every time he has had it. lol
two worst players on a bad team....gomer and kabby......two softest guys in the nhl as well.

Last night Michel Therien described Krappy as " as soft as yesterday's overcooked spaghetti".
Why was Gomer on the PP for over 2 minutes while AK only played 4 minutes in the whole game? Cunny is NOT making friends with bonehead decisions like that!

It was nice to at least see Gomez got a total of 7:49 off ice time so at least Cunney is cutting his time down although putting him on the PP makes no sense at all.
As for AK - They need to play him more if they plan on shipping him out of town. I personally don't think he's been that bad this season, he's just not been that good.
Typical AK - vanilla to the core. All sorts of talent but no heart whatsoever.
