Snorri on the Viking Trail: The crew of the Snorri, a recreated Viking vessel, will sail from Greenland to Newfoundland and then up the 'Viking Trail on the West Coast of Newfoundland, visiting communities and participating in numerous events and festivals.
 
JUNE - AUGUST 2000
Full Circle / First Contact -- Skraelings and Vikings in Newfoundland and Labrador: A mobile, 2,800 sq. foot exhibit will be mounted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Museum, focusing on the contact between Native North Americans and Vikings. It will play at Cartwright, Wonderstrand, southern Labrador and L'Anse aux Meadows before touring across Canada and then internationally in 2001.
 
JULY 23 - 28
Viking Sail 2000: A dozen Viking boats depart the Wonderstrand section of Southern Labrador for a six-day voyage to L'Anse aux Meadows. For the lead vessel, a replica longship named Islendingur, it will be the final leg on a recreation of Leif Ericson's voyage from Iceland to Greenland to Vinland.
 
JULY 17 - SEPTEMBER 8
Grand Encampment: A recreated, fully functional Viking village with a population of 100 hardy souls will be up and running at L'Anse aux Meadows.
 
SEPTEMBER 15 -23
Academic Symposium: A three-part symposium on Viking voyages, culture,
expoloration and cultural interaction will take place in St. John's, L'Anse aux Meadows and
