Julie Beaulieu qualified for the Olympic team by finishing second at the trials in July. It was a remarkable performance for the high school student who had sprained her left ankle two weeks earlier. She had only resumed training less than a week before the trials.

Last year she became the first Quebec athlete to win the Canadian all around gymnastics crown. She nearly quit gymnastics three years ago because of a fear of competing on the beam. Her best event is the uneven bars.

Once her gymnastics career is over she'd like to join the world famous acrobatic troop Le Cirque du Soleil.
