Karine Chevrier has made some giant strides in her swimming career over the
past year. She was a finalist at the Pan Pacific Championships in Sydney
last season placing eighth in the 100 butterfly and won a bronze medal in
the event at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. At the Olympic trials in June,
she qualified as an alternate for the 4X200 relay squad earning the spot by
winning a playoff race against her clubmate Audrey Lacroix. In that race
she lowered her personal best in the 100 butterfly by nearly two seconds
and could yet swim the event at the Games.
