Sonya Jeyaseelan is currently playing the best tennis of her career and
will compete in both singles and doubles at the Olympics. An exciting
player she is known for hitting the ball hard with two hands from both
sides. So far in 2000 she's been a giant killer on the Grand Slam circuit.
At the Australian Open in January she stunned fifth-seed Nathalie Tauziat
in the second round. Then in June at Wimbledon, she bounced number-four
seed and 1998 finalist Conchita Martinez in the second round. Last year
she eliminated Venus Williams at a major tournament. At the time it was
considered the biggest upset in women's tennis in two years.
