Shortstop Jackie Lance began playing softball with her mother at the age of
8. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in criminology and
psychology. She is currently employed at Home Depot through the Olympic
Employment Opportunity program. A strong hitter, Lance credits softball
with helping her achieve balance and direction. As a youth she dropped out
of school at age 15 when a lifestyle of drug-use almost destroyed her
future. She left home for two years but was able to successfully escape
the dark hole. A 1998 world championship team member, and MVP at the 1992
Nationals, she says that the silver medal win at the 1999 Pan Ams is her
career highlight to date.
