Wayne Sorensen expects the 2000 Olympic Games to be his last major competition in a career that has spanned 22 years. He'll compete in all three rifle events in Sydney- air rifle, three-position and prone.

  "I'd love to get a top-10 finish at the Olympics," said Sorensen, a financial planner with Investors Group. "That would be phenomenal in rifle shooting because the field is so deep."

  In 1992, Sorensen made his first Olympic team after he quit his job in order to train full time. It's a decision he never regretted. However in 1996 a lack of preparation cost him a spot on the team.

  His father Arne Sorensen also competed at two Olympic Games for Canada in rifle shooting in 1972 and 1976.

Sept. 23: Men's 50-metre free rifle 3 positions: Wayne Soreensen, Calgary, finished 42nd in final.
