Zack Whitmarsh is the three-time defending Canadian champion in the
800-metre event. His best international showing was at the Pan Am Games
last summer where he won the bronze medal with a personal best 1:45.94. He
burst on the international stage at the 1996 World Junior Championships
reaching the final and setting a national junior record 1:47.33.
Whitmarsh attended Oak Bay High School in Victoria and graduated last year
in business administration at East Tennessee State University.
