Eric Wohlberg is the King of the individual time trial (ITT). His consistent speed could also play a major role in Canada's medal hopes in the men's road race.

This is the second Olympics for Wohlberg who placed a respectable 26th in the ITT in 1996. He is the five-time defending Canadian time trial champion.

He won Canada's a gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in the ITT. In the road race, he won bronce, riding a bike constructed with spare parts and borrowed shoes (his equipment got lost in air transportation).

He was also the ITT winner at the 1999 Pan Am Games. This season he won the Dayton Pro-Am and has earned three professional stage race victories.
