Located in the south of the Showground site opposite the Olympic Park Station, the Dome, Ross, Binnie and Buring Pavilions make up the Sydney Showground Exhibition Complex.
Comprising an area of 22,000 square metres, the four adjoining halls -- one circular and three rectangular -- can be configured as one uninterrupted space of over 300m in length, equivalent to more than three football fields in length.
The Dome is 97m in diameter with a 42m high roof -- the largest structure of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
During the Olympic Games, the exhibition complex will host many indoor Olympic sports. These include basketball and volleyball in the Dome, badminton, handball, modern pentathlon and rhythmic gymnastics in the exhibition halls.
The Dome has a capacity to hold up to 10,000 spectators for basketball and volleyball. Spectators will have easy access to their seats in the Dome by moving along the internal walkway around the walls.
