Thousands welcome Kostelic back home
ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) -- Drums, screams and applause greeted skier Janica Kostelic as she returned to a hero's welcome for capturing four medals, including three golds, at the Salt Lake City Olympics.
Croats skipped work and school, filling the capital's main square to embrace the 20-year-old woman who has been dubbed the "Snow Queen."

Baxter hailed for Britain's surprise bronze
LONDON (AP) -- Unheralded British skier Alain Baxter was hailed Sunday after creating skiing history with his surprise bronze medal in the slalom at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
Photographs of the 28-year-old Scottish skier, nicknamed "Highlander" were on several front and back pages British newspapers Sunday. Baxter's bronze was the first time in the 78-year history of the Winter Games that Britain had won a medal on anything other than ice.
