Recent high school graduate Jennifer Heil was the revelation of the Canadian freestyle ski team last winter. In her first full season on the World Cup circuit, Heil placed fourth overall in the women's moguls standings and was named the rookie of the year. She won two medals and posted five top-10 finishes. In addition she swept the moguls and dual moguls events at the Canadian championships.

"The whole season was a new and exciting experience," she said. "I added new tricks to my repertoire and I was able to bring everything up a level. My main focus was the 2006 Olympics, but last year was a bonus for me."

Heil enjoyed great success despite shin problems generated from pounding more than 80 moguls and two jumps on a standard 250-metre course. However this is a common ailment among young skiers.

She first strapped on a pair of skis at age 2. Her father, a Spruce Grove lawyer, is an excellent skier and provided the basic skills for his two daughters. They were introduced to moguls skiing at age nine.
