Alanna Kraus qualified for her first Olympic team in November with a solid performance at the team trials. She reached 11 finals in 12 races and
finished second overall. She also earned berths to race the 500 and 1,000 metre events.
Consistency has always been Kraus's trademark but at the Olympics, where everything is a one-shot deal, Kraus will need to take more risks.
However another Kraus trademark s her mental strength and her ability to stay focused at all times under pressure.
She is also one of Canada's fastest improving skaters. Last season she was seventh overall at the world championships placing in the top-eight
in all four races and was also seventh in the World Cup standings. Only five years ago she was ranked 14th in Canada.
