Alanis Morissette's Canadian Tour starts today, here in Vancouver. Evidence of spring and rain are everywhere in Vancouver. As the crew travelled to GM Place early this morning thousands of healthy people swarmed the buses as the Vancouver International Marathon started across the street at BCE Place. One crewmember described the early morning run as "shocking."

I wanted to sit crossed legged across from Alanis in order to get a measure of where she was at spiritually and I did just that at the "meet and greet" before her show. I have received many gifts in life but this one was the top. I am a performing dance artist and I remember hearing "Too Hot" and "Superman" from her early records in my Jazz classes. I've been an Alanis fan for a long time so it was wonderful to speak with her for a moment tonight.
The concert tonight was great. The crowd was charmed right from the opening notes by her music and her stage persona. Her band was excellent too. My favourite song of the night had to be "Uninvited." Everyone at GM Place felt invited. Two other songs I was really pleased to hear were "Would Not Come" and "Heart of the House."
After the first encore I though the show was over but Alanis and her band soon returned to play an Unplugged finale. Her performance made me feel so alive and that's one of the signs of a great concert. Don't miss this tour!
Veda Hilla opened tonight's show. Unfortunately we missed Sloan because that's when I got to meet Alanis. Veda told us "I can see Alanis' setlist and she's going to play all Aerosmith covers." She's knows how to get the crowd's attention and for the record I never heard one Aerosmith song all night.
Next stop on "The Junkie Tour" is Calgary.
