Hostess Brands Inc, a U.S. wholesale baker, on Wednesday filed for chapter 11 protection in Manhattan, just months after it emerged from bankruptcy.

The Twinkies and Wonder Bread baker listed assets of between $500 million US and $1 billion and debt of more than $1 billion.

This is the second court restructuring for Ripplewood Holdings-owned Hostess, which emerged from bankruptcy last September.
