ST, CATHARINES, Ont. -- Here comes a Honey Boo Boo nickname generator -- and it was developed by a Canadian company.

The Toddlers & Tiaras spin-off is a captivating train wreck of a TLC network show about six-year-old pageant sensation Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson and her family who live in rural McIntyre, Ga.

The show -- notable for sometimes using subtitles for English speakers who have a southern accent -- has been a hit for the American network.

Now Tri-Media Integrated Marketing Technologies, of St. Catharines, Ont., has provided the show with a quirky online nickname generator.

Visitors to the show's Facebook page can submit their name and have it turned into cheesy "Boo Boo-like" nickname by means of an algorithm created by the company.

The generator even garnered a chuckling mention on NBC's The Today Show.Tri-Media has done past work for Discovery, TLC and other media, said founder and CEO Albert Iannantuono.

"This has been a lot of fun," he said.

"About nine times out of 10, they'll look at one of the ideas we'll have for them and say 'Go for it,' and that's what happened with Honey Boo Boo."

Tri-Media is a digital-social-mobile apps development company Iannantuono launched in 1986, when he was 23. It employs a total of 68 workers in its various offices.
