Dollarama has issued a recall for LED lights in the shape of butterflies because they are a fire hazard.

The lights are made up of 10 multi-coloured plastic butterflies on a 2.1-metre cord and operates on AA batteries, the Health Canada recall stated.

The lights can spark or catch fire when the batteries are inserted or while the lights are in use, which has been reported five times to Dollarama.

Approximately 19,836 of the lights were sold at Dollarama locations across Canada in February and March.

Customers should return the product to the store for a refund.
