SUMMER JOB CONTEST

My best summer job

It was the summer of '86, and I was a deli girl at The Butcher Shoppe, which was situated dead centre in Kensington Market.

The morning shifts on weekends were the best! Aside from the hustle and bustle of early bargain shoppers and frustrated business owners, was the opportunity to meet so many different, interesting types of people from many walks of life, and the chance to experience so many wonderful cultures -- all in a five-block radius.

It was an absolute blast -- and the job wasn't too bad either.
