Could become the highest drafted goaltender in NHL history. Tom
Barrasso (1983) and John Davidson (1973) share the current mark,
going fifth overall. Luongo is expected to be the next great
goaltender to come out of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League,
following in the footsteps of Patrick Roy, Felix Potvin and
Martin Brodeur. Luongo won the Mike Bossy Trophy as the QMJHL's
top professional prospect. Named his team's MVP in the 1997 Top
Prospects Game. Is fluent in English, French and Italian.
Began his hockey career as a forward, but honed his goaltending
skills while playing street hockey. Is a traditional butterfly
goalie who presents an imposing target at 6-3.
