Sunday, February 28, 1999 Fleury BioBy The Canadian PressA sketch of Theoren Fleury, traded Sunday by the Calgary Flames to the Colorado Avalanche: Born: June 29, 1968, in Oxbow, Sask. Personal: Lives year-round in Calgary with wife Veronica and sons Josh and Beaux. Enjoys golf and travelling with family. 1999 stats: 30 goals, 39 assists in 60 games. Career stats: 364 goals and 466 assists in 791 games, all with Calgary. The trade: Fleury and winger Chris Dingman go to Colorado for forward Rene Corbet, defenceman Wade Belak and the right to select a player not on Colorado's roster. Calgary also gets to keep the compensatory pick, likely a second-rounder in 2000, it would have received for Fleury signing as a free agent elsewhere. If the Avalanche re-sign Fleury, the Flames also get a first-round pick in 2000. Quote: "I've had so many hard things to go through in my life, this is one of the toughest for sure." -- Fleury. |
