Tuesday, March 2, 1999 Fleury sidelined with sprained right kneeDENVER (CP) -- Right-winger Theoren Fleury is sidelined indefinitely with a sprained right knee, the Colorado Avalanche said Tuesday.Fleury, 30, obtained by the Avalanche on Sunday in a trade with the Calgary Flames, was hurt in the third period of Monday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers. The five-foot-six, 180-pound winger had scored his first goal for his new team just minutes earlier in the game the Oilers won 4-3. Fleury and winger Chris Dingman were sent to Colorado for forward Rene Corbet, defenceman Wade Belak, the right to select a player not on Colorado's roster and a draft pick next year. The native of Oxbow, Sask., had spent his entire career with Calgary before being traded. He was leading the Flames this season with 30 goals and 39 assists at the time of the trade, and had compiled a team-record 830 points on 364 goals and 466 assists in his career with Calgary. |
