    Aki Berg returning to Kings

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) Ñ Restricted free-agent defenceman Aki Berg is returning to the Los Angeles Kings, having agreed to terms of a one-year contract with the NHL team.
Berg will earn $762,500 plus bonuses based on performance.
ÒAki belongs in the National Hockey League and, more importantly, in Los Angeles,Ó Kings general manager Dave Taylor said Thursday. ÒWe are very pleased to have him back. HeÕs a big, young, mobile defender, and weÕre excited to add him to our defensive corps.Ó
Berg played in his native Finland last year after failing to reach an agreement with the Kings. In 48 games with TPS Turku, the six-foot-three, 215-pounder had eight goals and seven assists.
Berg had two goals and 21 assists in 164 games over three seasons with the Kings. He became the youngest player in team history when he made his NHL debut on Oct. 7, 1995 at 18 years, two months and nine days.
Berg, the third overall selection in the 1995 NHL draft, is expected to be on hand for the start of training camp Sunday.
