    Canucks 3, OILERS 2

    Oilers edge Canucks

  • Summary

EDMONTON (CP) -- Markus Naslund scored the winner at 14:24 of the third period to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.

Minutes after Edmonton's Ethan Moreau had tied the game 2-2, Naslund took a perfect feed from Ed Jovanovski and beat a helpless Tommy Salo.

Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and an assist and Harold Druken added a single for the Canucks, who are a single point out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They trail the eighth-place Phoenix Coyotes with 79 points.

Doug Weight opened the scoring at 3:48 of the first period when he lifted a rebound past Felix Potvin.

Druken tied the game in the first minute of the second, beating Salo on a power play. It was Druken's sixth goal of the season and his first on the power play. He also added an assist.

Bertuzzi made it 2-1 when he recorded his 23rd goal of the year at 4:21 of the third after he parked himself in front of the Edmonton net and banged one past Tommy Salo.

Moreau tied it 2-2 with his goal at 10:43.

Felix Potvin continued his stellar play, stopping 26 shots, including 12 in the third period.

The Canucks are now 5-1-0 in their last six games and have scored 29 times during that stretch.

Edmonton remains sixth in the West with 80 points, two behind the division-leading Colorado Avalanche.
