Bio...
The approriately titled 'Bright Lights' is a further exploration of pop, which SULLY has always been rooted. Being and introverted, nervous bunch, the music can't help but to express a pent up, mixed up and slightly deranged bag of emotions. Vocalist Becke Gainforth is known for her outward thinking and inability to socially edit herself. She says, "With a flaw as great as this, what other use could there be for it?" The band formed in 1995 in Ottawa, Canada after digging themselves out of a mountain of snow and an unbearably cold winter. Beginning as a basement jam session, the band has always been based around writing music as a collective. With the release of their first, self-titled album that same year, SULLY burst into the Canadian music scene and gained attention fast. During the mounting success of their first album, SULLY had already started working on their follow-up, later titled, 'I Have Much To Report'. This album was different than their debut as it swayed into a darker, more experimental place. The album was re-released in 1998 through Nettwerk Records and the label also featured a remix of "Otherd" on the Plastic Compilation (Vol. 1) which included artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Chemical Brothers, Propellerheads and more. SULLY have been featured in numerous North American publications, with favourable reviews in Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, Option, Chicago Tribune and many more. After playing shows across the U.S. and Canada, SULLY began to accumulate a large and loyal fan base. The album remained in the top 5 slot on the Canadian and U.S. College Charts for several weeks. With the release of 'Bright Lights', SULLY reach a place that is truly their own. These songs are not about clear thoughts, rational thinking and specific emotion. They come from a world where happiness and contentment is blase. SULLY have more fun remaining in an uncertain, unpredictable place. "It keeps our imaginations fresh and instincts alive, which in turn, keeps the risk in our music."
