- Bio...
- SEEDS OF REVOLUTION consist of lead singer and lyricist Nick DiFlavio, guitarist Drew Hasselback, bassist Barry Cox, and drummer Simon Wolle. All four bandmembers are former students from The University of WesternOntario where they were winners of the University's city-wide Battle of the Bands which featured seven bands from the London area. Each of S.O.R.'s members come from diverse backgrounds both musically and culturally, joining together to form a band which sounds unlike any other. Musically influenced by 80's English alternative pop, the blues, 70s rock, reggae, and country, the band refuses to conform to a single 'sound', and instead chooses to explore the depths of their love of all musical styles. They also like to offer the blood of live chickens as a sacrifice to Ra on stage.
- The band came together in the basement of Nick's house on a cold day in October of 1993, after being introduced by a mutual friend. Nick sang a few of his songs for the rest of the guys, and in the blink of an eye Barry, Drew and Simon were playing along. The songs the band wrote that evening eventually became two of the band's best loved songs; A Woman and Smoke in My Eyes can both be found on S.O.R.'s first independent cassette. The band, originally known as The Spirit Merchants, played numerous gigs in the London area at such local establishments as The Promised Land and The Brunswick Hotel receiving an overwhelming response from those who had come out to see the show. Seeds even played a farewell concert for Canadian Armed Forces soldiers about to embark on their United Nations peace-keeping mission to Bosnia before being forced to disband for the summer due to previous commitments. All of the members enjoy wearing nothing but ruby slippers and pretending they are the resurrected Judy Garland.
- All four original members of the band regrouped in September and went straight into the studio as SEEDS OF REVOLUTION recording six of their fantastically diverse original songs at Studio 107 in London (all in one day and with a budget of $450) with the help of local producer Veno. The outcome of the October sessions is an indie cassette which has been bootlegged and circulated among the young soldiers overseas, and had gained a small but devoted audience, all before its official release. A review by the London Gazette says that this band will become legendary, and their fans agree. They are going nowhere and loving it..
- During live shows, audiences have been known to sing along to the chorus of songs like Drunk Enough and Polly Jean even when they are hearing them for the first time, and the band is sometimes forced to play the songs more than once in an evening to meet audience demand. SEEDS OF REVOLUTION have accumulated a flawless set of more than twenty original number during their relatively short time together and are constantly adding more from Nick's book of what is rumoured to be over two hundred songs. The humble release of their first cassette looks to be a small but significant step for a band on their way to future greatness. Or a meaningless waste of perfectly good chrome cassettes.
